Welcome to Lesson 3 of the Advanced Microsoft Excel Tutorial. In this lesson we will cover the first part of Advanced Charting where we will go over different chart types. I hope you enjoy the lesson.

Advanced Charting Part 1

Step 1: Column Charts

Column charts are either 2 or 3-dimensional charts consisting of a vertical column. A column chart compares values across categories.

Step 2:Line Charts

Line charts compares different sets of data values across a category. This can be used to trace sales figures across dates.

Step 3: Pie Charts

Pie charts display the contribution of each value to a total. This can be used in a budget to determine how much each item of the budget contributes to the total budget.

Step 4: Area Charts

Area charts display the trend of the contribution of each value over time or categories.

Step 5: Custom Charts

On the custom charts tab you can select from a list of built-in custom charts that have been created, or select from your own custom charts. You can also download charts off of the Internet and access them here.
