IT Training

Welcome to Lesson 5 of the Advanced Microsoft Excel Tutorial. In this lesson we will cover Protection. I hope you enjoy the lesson.

Protection

Step 1: Protect Sheet

Select Tools, Protection, and then Protect Sheet. When the Protect Sheet dialog displays choose a password to use to protect this sheet. You can then select what items you want all users to have access to. Users who do not have the password that you entered will still have access to these functions.

Step 2: Protect Workbook

Select Tools, Protection, and the Protect Workbook. From here you can specify how you want to protect the workbook. Protect Structure makes it so that worksheets in the workbook can’t be moved, deleted, hidden, unhidden, or renamed. Protect Windows protects the windows so that they are the same size and position each time the workbook is opened.
