Welcome to Lesson 3 of the Intermediate Microsoft Excel Tutorial. In this lesson we will cover Colors. I hope you enjoy the lesson.

Colors

Step 1: Select cells

Select the cells that you want to format and change the color for. Then select Format on the menubar, and then Format Cells.

Step 2: Background Color

Select the Patterns tab at the top of the screen. From here you are given the available colors for your background. Select a color that you want to use.

Step 3: Patterns

At the bottom of the Patterns screen there is a drop-down box for patterns. From here you can choose various patterns for how the background color will appear

Step 4: Removing Color

If you want to remove the color from your background you select the No color box at the top of the Patterns screen.

Step 5: Fill

If you want to quickly change the color of a cell you can use the Fill button. On the toolbar there is a picture of a paint bucket tipping over. Click on this bucket to automatically fill the cell with the fill color. If you want to change the fill color select the down arrow next to the button.
