Welcome to Lesson 4 of the Intermediate Microsoft Excel Tutorial. In this lesson we will cover Borders. I hope you enjoy the lesson.
Borders
Step 1: Select cells

Select the cell or cells that you want the border to apply to. Then click Format and then Cells from the menu bar.
Step 2: Border Tab

Click on the border tab at the top. This brings you to the border dialog box where you can choose your settings for the border.
Step 3: Presets

Excel gives you 3 presets that you can use for borders. The three presets are none, outline, and inside. Outline will set the outside borders for the cells that you have chosen. Inside will set the inside borders for the cells that you have chosen.
Step 4: Border

If you want to set your border manually rather than using a preset you can set the borders in the border section. Here you can select the top, bottom, left, right, middle, and diagonal borders. There is a view screen that will show you how your borders will look upon completion.
Step 5: Style

You can also choose a style and color for your border. The style box gives multiple option for the style of the border. You can choose form thick, to dotted, to numerous other styles. The color drop-down box gives you multiple options for the color of your border.
Step 6: Finished

When you are done click OK to see the results.
